Government Vs Private Jobs

Government and Private Jobs have few similarities but lots of differences. This is due to their nature of operations, personal interests, external factors, priorities based on nature of activities, market approach, environmental conditions, national interests, international aspects etc.

Following factors are worth highlighting to consider the dissimilarities:

1.National Interests and nature of operations:
During government jobs the individual or the entire organization has to work keeping in the national interest on top priority. In such jobs the activities are more pertaining to governmental or national types than profit making.
Here government also support such organizations and jobs by indulging extra resources from various funds to keep them working and support government. Pakistan Television is a live example of such organizations/jobs activities where priority is to highlight government activities majorly, which is not the case in private television channels like Geo TV.

2.Revenue Generation:
In private jobs major purpose is to generate revenue and add monetary value to the company. Sales, finance and project management expertise are preferred in such organizations. In open sector the jobs are selected/assigned based on the outcome an individual can contribute towards growth of the firm.
The individual or board of directors (in most of multinational companies) wants multiplied return of their invested money. In government this concept is very rare as the money and resources are funded by government and the officials expect the job activities to be supporting their interests.

3.Political and personal factor:
In political government most of the job activities are to develop political based assignments and involve personal interests. The job assignments are mostly fulfilling give and take scenario of government officers. In private sector give and take is also there but it is in the interest of both parties (i.e. giving and receiving enc)

• Important Note:
In government activities we are wasting time and resources of government, which is ultimately coming from taxes and rights of our own poor people. In private companies, resources are from rich people. We must not waste the resources of any kind, however government resources must be protected because either in one way or the other we and our Pakistan are getting affected.
