On 1 August 1947, the Commission was as Sindh Public Service Commission. The Commission is provided constitutional cover under Article 242 of the Constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and SPSC Act 1989 as amended from time to time. The Chairman and the Members of the Commission are appointed by the Governor in consultation with the Chief Minister, presently for the fixed and non-renewable term of five years.
